Earth Tones

This look is the perfect way to transition from Summer to Fall. Military jackets are a must-have this season and it took me forever to find an affordable one that I liked (linked below). I love the olive color and it's lightweight enough to wear now and warm enough to wear through October. Layer it up and you can wear it into winter. I found this LBD at H&M and it's less than $20! I bought it in-store so if I can't find a link online, I will share another favorite of mine. It'll be great for the remaining hot days of summer and I think it'll be the perfect layering piece in the winter. Throw a sweater over it and some knee high boots and you're good to go ;)

Ribbed Midi and Rails

Sadly, summer is coming to a close. So before it does, stock up on any last minute items you've been wanting to buy, but haven't pulled the plug. The great news is that you can find a lot of amazing end-of-summer deals. I got this comfortable and curvy ribbed midi from H&M for only $13! The best part is you can dress it up with a pair of heels and leather jacket or dress it down like I did below with a pair of sneakers and my trusty Rails flannel. Perfect to transition into fall. I dragged my husband out for another photo shoot so he did the best he could ;)

Pattern Mixing

One thing I always admired while following other bloggers over the years, was their ability to mix patterns. For example, how they can take totally different prints and put them together to make a complete, unique look that works. I have to admit that I've tried in the past and failed (it's not as easy at it seems!) but the outfit I have on below is a foolproof way to achieve the perfect mix. Like I had mentioned in an earlier post, stripes have become the new neutral. If you wants to mix patterns, the best one to start out with is a stripe. I paired my striped dress with a patterned scarf from Zara. Sadly the scarf is old, but I will link some others below!

This dress is less than $20! And so are the shoes ;)

Sunflowers and Sunsets

My usual photographer has been super busy this summer so I had to enlist my husband as my photographer and I worked on editing the images. I don't think they look too shabby, but that's why my posts have been a little slower lately. Just wanted to apologize in advance! He did find the perfect location for this shoot. Who doesn't love sunflowers?! And paired with some denim on denim, the colors could not be more perfect. My top and shorts are both old (I'll share links to very similar options), but that just shows how closet staples can be mixed and matched for years to come. Never worry about splurging a little for pieces that can be worn time and again, although my shorts are American Eagle so best of both worlds :)

Swaying with the flowers ;)

OBX Vacation Part 2

It's been over a week since we returned home from vacation, and even though it's great being back in the swing of things, I miss the beach now more than ever! It doesn't help that it's already August. This summer is flying by and I don't like it! I'm so happy we have another trip planned in September because I'm not ready to say goodbye to summer quite yet. I'm going to keep sharing warm weather looks for as long as I can ;)

Without further ado, here are the rest of my snaps from our trip!

Romper: here | Shoes: here | Hat: J.Crew (seen in previous post)
Let me start out by saying I'm obsessed with this romper. I could live in it. It's so comfortable and just perfect for
a hot summer day, especially because the denim is lightweight. I have a swimsuit on underneath, but it can also
be worn with a regular bra. I bought a size small and I normally wear a small, but if you are much taller than I am
(I'm 5'4"), you might want to size up because it could be too short. I had to get a picture in front of this home, I
love all the brightly colored homes in OBX!

One thing I need more of in my closet is anything ombre. I've always loved ombre, but for some reason I don't
have enough of it. This blouse is so easy, breezy and if you can't tell, I own way too much blue and white.

Shoes: here
Can't forget about the shoes! My new favorite addition to my shoe collection is from Target! I actually buy a lot of
shoes from Target, but I can't help it. Such amazing prices and for the most part they hold up well. And because
they don't break the bank, you can buy so many different designs each season ;)

Top: sold out, same brand similar here | Pants: here | Shoes: linked above
Probably my favorite outfit of the trip (hope I didn't say that already hehe) I couldn't
recommend these pants more! Perfect for the beach over top a swimsuit, or to lounge
around in, they are so comfortable and don't you just love the slits up the side?!

In my last post, I talked about food, so now I'll mention a couple other activites that we enjoyed other than the
beach. We drove to see the Bodie Island Lighthouse, just south of Nags Head. You can see it a few pictures back.
I don't know why, but I love lighthouses, it was also a great way to pass the time while we had an hour and a half
wait for dinner. My favorite activity was going to the Jockey's Ridge sand dunes. I know sand dunes might not
sound super exciting, but it's on the bayside and the best time to go is right before sunset (pictured above). You
climb these huge mountains of sand until you can see the sun setting over the bay. The kids were getting tired so
we didn't make it the whole time, but I definitely recommend it for you and your significant other! Very
romantic. Lastly, one of my favorite activities to do with the kids at the beach is mini golf, but that might not be
for everyone ;)

Hope you all enjoyed my vacation round-up! Looking forward to sharing our next trip in September to Charleston!!!
